The two scientists were awarded in recognition of opening new doors for the pharmaceutical industry by inventing techniques to form molecules through chemical reactions using new types of catalysts. The two researchers will share the Nobel Prize of ten million Swedish kronor. Atomic structure is a complex art, the Nobel Academy said in a statement. Benjamin List and David Macmillan have been able to develop valuable new instruments in nuclear reconstruction. Last year, Emmanuel Charpentier and Jennifer Doudna jointly won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry. They were given this award for discovering the smallest device in gene technology.
